Where nature meets nurture

Q: What is a Mei Tai?
Om Baba mei tais are adopted and modernized from an old concept traced to ancient Chinese Mei Tai 揹帶 /背巾 (pronounced as "meh tye", in Chinese Cantonese dialect; or Bei Dai, as in Mandarin Chinese). They were originally made from a piece of cloth big enough to be wrapped around the body. All the ends were knotted all together at one point to secure the baby in place either in front of the mom or at her back. Then slowly it evolved into a carrier a main body piece with 2 or four straps that serve as shoulers and waist straps. Having the baby securely wrapped onto her body, means mothers can move freely, able to carry out their household chores or work in the fields and still be close to their babies. To this day, baby carriers such as this play an indispensible role in the lives of many mothers worldwide.
Over time, many dads started enjoying using baby carriers too - while at work or during play time. From its humble birth in ancient China, the Mei Tai has helped countless parents , and went through many transformations as it travelled far and wide into different parts of the world - Japan, Korea, India, USA, Australia and Europe. But all these Mei Tai have one common goal - to allow you to comfortably carry your baby hands free.
Om Baba Mei Tais have come a long way since their ancient Chinese beginning, but it is set to be one trend that won't ever go out of style!
